Augmented Reality Sculpture

Avatars represent our bodies in virtual worlds and determine our relation to surrounding digital communities.

L/R is an augmented reality sculpture contemplating a scenario in which a controlling body forcefully moderates digital representation, adhering it to a two-party system. Avatars are no longer a representation of individual personality, rather a conveyance of binary political choice: red or blue. This divides the population and enforces a breakdown in communication between the two parties.

A resistance movement rejects this binary system by occupying the middle section, choosing instead to open a means of dialogue for alternative perspectives. This action clashes with the operation of the machine which is unable to assign a political affiliation, inadvertently creating a minority known as “The Textureless”.
